Iroko Wood Stool

€520.00

A creation of artist Elise Malterre.

This solid wood stool was made entirely from iroko wood scraps salvaged from a boat yard in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. The regular maintenance of the boats that travel up and down the Douro river leaves piles of leftover cuttings after repairs are made. Elise chose to create the legs directly from these cuttings with minimal alteration. The seat of the stool was cut and shaped by hand out of a larger piece of iroko. The stool features traditional wood joints and is finished with shellac.

Height: 29 cm
Width: 52 cm
Depth: 28 cm
